Lives and work between Berlin, London and Hong Kong
My practice begins with a fundamental inquiry: how is reality perceived, and to what extent is that perception conditioned by the systems of belief we inherit?
I have long been drawn to the intellectual terrain in which Eastern and Western philosophical canons converge. My work engages philosophy, mythology, theology, and psychology as parallel epistemological frameworks—distinct yet intersecting attempts to articulate the relationship between the visible world and the invisible structures that govern it.
Rather than adhering to a singular visual style, I approach artistic practice as a form of visual linguistics. Each body of work develops its own grammar through which ideas are articulated: images are constructed, deconstructed, mirrored, and reconfigured across multiple media. Oil, ink, textiles, aluminium, digital image processing, and sculptural forms function not as discrete disciplines but as interdependent elements within a broader conceptual vocabulary.
Materiality is central to this inquiry. Industrial surfaces such as aluminium and Plexiglas coexist with tactile materials—wool, paper, wood, pigments—producing a dynamic oscillation between the technological and the handmade. Through this dialogue I attempt to construct objects that inhabit a threshold between states: the physical and the hypothetical, the material and the metaphysical.
Many of my compositions are structured through systems of symmetry, mirroring, and modularity. These formal strategies resonate with patterns found throughout the natural world—crystalline formations (Crystalline Nebula), cosmic structures (The Cosmic Fragments), and biological symmetries (Ex Materia, Myth of the Ages)—while simultaneously engaging philosophical and musical frameworks, from Plato’s Allegory of the Cave to Symphony No. 3 “Symphony of Sorrowful Songs” by Henryk Górecki (Atlas Obscura, Substitute for Sorrow). In this sense, the works operate as speculative diagrams of perception—spaces in which illusion and knowledge continually exchange positions.
Digital processes frequently function as a preliminary stage in the development of certain series (MetaSyntax, Memory Gospel). Algorithms and image manipulation generate structural templates that are subsequently translated into physical form through manual intervention—drawing, painting, textile work, or sculptural fabrication. This hybrid methodology allows me to examine how contemporary technologies reshape our visual environment while preserving the tactile essence of the handmade.
Ultimately, the artwork is conceived not as a fixed image but as a field of experience—an open proposition activated through perception. The viewer completes the work through movement, interpretation, and perceptual engagement. Rather than offering definitive conclusions, the works seek to construct visual frameworks that invite reflection on the porous boundary between belief and knowledge, matter and imagination, perception and reality.
